How to read bonus terms

A bonus headline is only the start of the calculation. Read the deposit, bonus, wagering basis, game contribution, expiry and bet limit together before deciding whether an offer fits your own fixed budget.

How to read bonus terms editorial cover

Turn a headline into a calculation

Start with the cash you intend to deposit, not the largest printed maximum. In a simple example, a A$100 deposit plus a A$100 bonus gives A$200 in the account. If the terms say 40× applies to the bonus only, the turnover illustration is A$4,000. If 40× applies to deposit plus bonus, the illustration is A$8,000.

Example termCalculation
A$100 deposit + A$100 bonusA$200 balance before play.
40× bonus onlyA$100 × 40 = A$4,000 turnover.
40× deposit + bonusA$200 × 40 = A$8,000 turnover.

The figures are illustrative, not a claim about any current casino offer.

Game contribution changes the effort

Contribution says how much a wager on a game type counts toward the target. If a game contributes 10%, each A$1 wager adds A$0.10. A A$4,000 turnover target therefore needs A$40,000 wagered through that game type; a A$8,000 target needs A$80,000. Check the current eligible-game list rather than assuming all casino games count equally.

Free spins can have their own game, stake value, expiry and rule for resulting winnings. Keep those details separate from the cash-bonus calculation.

The lines that decide whether to opt in

Check the minimum deposit, payment exclusions, expiry clock, maximum bet, restricted games and any maximum withdrawal rule. The expiry and bet maximum come from the live terms, so do not guess them from a review headline. If a condition is unclear, skip the offer instead of treating the most favourable reading as fact.

Make the decision before depositing: a bonus should fit a limit already chosen for entertainment, never become a reason to add money or extend a session.

Questions, answered

What does 30× mean?

It means thirty times a defined base; the terms must say whether that base is bonus, deposit, or both.

What is game contribution?

It is the percentage of activity in a category that counts toward the stated requirement.

Can a headline show all material conditions?

Usually no; the full terms and date checked are necessary.
